A Bounty of Fresh Seafood, Live Music and Ocean Art
New Highlights Include Toots and the Maytals, Beach Bonfire & Ocean Art Exhibition
Hollywood’s award-winning beach will shine day and night with a bounty of sumptuous fresh Florida seafood, live music on two stages, ocean-themed art exhibits, special children’s activities, a volunteer beach cleanup and much more at the Hollywood Beach Clambake, September 16-18 along the world-famous Broadwalk.
The entertainment lineup will include 2005 Grammy-winning Reggae band Toots and the Maytals (8 p.m. Saturday), Bill “The Sauce Boss” Wharton (7 p.m. Sunday), and Hypnotic Clambake (daily).
Experience a delectable New England tradition in a unique tropical setting in the Clambake Pavilion, with tons of steamed clams, fresh-shucked oysters, shrimp, fish, lobster, conch, crab cakes and more. In addition to the seafood feast served up by festival vendors, several beach restaurants will offer specialty menu items.
Other highlights of the fourth annual event will include a beach bonfire (Friday), “Best Chowder” contest among beach-area restaurants (7 p.m. Friday) a beach cleanup (Saturday morning), an Antique & Classic Car Show (Sunday), the Seaside Impressions Art Exhibit, and ocean-themed crafts and vendors along the Broadwalk.
Among the activities for kids are the Ocean Life Children’s Art Competition, Beach Kids Play Zone, and contests for Little Miss Starfish, Miss Mermaid and Little Nemo (4 p.m. Sunday). At the Garfield Beach Hut for Kids, youngsters can enjoy interactive steel pan demonstrations and create artwork using recycled materials and found beach objects.
There is no charge for admission to the Hollywood Beach Clambake, which is presented by the Hollywood Beach Community Redevelopment Agency. Founded by Fiesta Tropicale of Hollywood, Inc., a 501C3 nonprofit organization, the award-winning event has been recognized by the Florida Redevelopment Agency as “Best Festival.”
Festival hours are 5 to 11 p.m. Fri., Sept. 16; noon to 11 p.m. Sat., Sept. 17; and noon to 9 p.m. Sun., Sept. 18 along the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk, just east of State Road A1A at Johnson Street.
Come by car, boat or bicycle. Paid festival parking is available at the Johnson Street municipal garage and surface lots, and at the Oceanwalk Mall, next to the Ramada Inn Hollywood Beach Resort at Hollywood Boulevard. There is no charge to park at the Anne Kolb Nature Center on Sheridan Street, one block west of State Road A1A, and complimentary festival shuttle service will be offered from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sat., Sept. 17 only.
